Roof Gardens are an excellent way to brighten up your property, especially if you have little or no outdoor garden space. It’s the ideal solution for city living where outdoor space is at a premium and properties are becoming ever smaller. A roof garden or terrace can make an attractive feature and allow you to enjoy the fresh air from the comfort of your own home.

Many homeowners are now choosing to develop their properties upwards rather than outwards. This makes sense when there is limited space available – you’re making use of space you already have as opposed to needing to start from scratch. It might surprise you how usable the space above your ceiling can be. With a professional designer, there’s a lot which can be done with even the most awkward of areas.

Deciding what to do with your roof garden is an exciting process, and you have plenty of options. Many terraces have a distinctly Mediterranean feel because their positioning on top of a building makes them the ideal sun trap, so you can set them up with sun loungers and BBQs to make the most of this. There are a number of possible configurations, and you can do something completely personal. If you have a more naturally enclosed space, you could put a fence or hedge around the edges to make it more private. This would create an excellent outdoor dining area, or you could even use the space to install a hot tub.

There is also a lot of work that you can plan to do inside of your home; both changes which are practical and functional improvements, as well as those which are purely aesthetic. There are a wide variety of things you can do, so it definitely merits some investigation before you actually reach a decision.
